The Semantic Web aims at making content available on the Web much more machine processable than it is today. Currently, information on the Web is mostly available as HTML, which mixes content and layout information. In order to access and proces this information, special scripts tailored towards a particular web site have to be implemented.
The W3C has published several standards such as RDF and OWL, which can be used for the semantic description of contents.
In the context of the EU project DIP, which started in 2005, I work on the development of Semantic Web Services, a technology combining the Semantic Web with Web Services.
